Carleen - Founder

Carleen is the founder of Freya's Gluten Free World. Freya is one of her treasured three nieces and having a background in online retailing for nearly two decades, she came up with the initial idea of Freya's Gluten Free World, inspired by the experiences of Freya and her family. Having spent many years in London, she is now resident in Harrogate, North Yorkshire and lives on a farm with her husband. Her experience in online retailing started way back in the boom in 2000 and over the years has enjoyed running online businesses for some really interesting and well-loved Brands including O2, Arcadia Group, Muddy Puddles, Mamas & Papas, Bettys & Taylors of Harrogate and Fortnum & Mason.

Carleen worked for Fortnum's as Head of Online & Digital and it was there she met her business partner, Tanya who headed up Grocery buying.

Tanya - Co-Founder

Based in London, Tanya is a highly respected Food retailing professional. Similar to Carleen, she has worked in business for over 20 years and has enjoyed delivering food retailing experiences and recipe development for some of the UK's most prestigious Brands including Fortnum & Mason, Selfridges, Bills Restaurant Group and Claridge’s. Her absolute passion is scouring the UK and beyond for the very best grocery goods on offer and as a result, her network is extensive which means she can find the best products at a reasonable price.

With their collective experience in food retailing, they have noticed the growing trend for premium 'free from' products and in particular gluten free. 1 in 100 people in the UK, Europe and the USA are coeliac. Yes that's an absolute fact. But only around 90% have been currently diagnosed, but as we become more aware of diet and it's impact on health, we know this will only increase.

It is our mission to do our very best to ensure that parents and guardians of coeliac children are informed and supported through Freya's Gluten Free World.
